Birth of Sri Siddhartha Medical College

Sri Siddhartha Medical College was established in 1988 with a huge green campus in Agalakote, Tumkur. The college was started with the approval my medical council of India under Bangalore University, which was later on merged under RGUHS, Bangalore. It has well planned infrastructure with a built up area of more than 130134 sqm and has a teaching hospital with around 1000 beds. The hospital has 12 fully equipped major operation theatres. It offers UG Degree in MBBS & MD/MS. Of P.G. Degree and Ph.D courses and recognized by National Medical Commission, New Delhi. India

In 2008 Sri Siddhartha medical college became a constituent college of Sri Siddharth a Academy of Higher Education, (Deemed to be University Declared under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956) Tumkur, vide MHRD GOI No. F.9-31/2006-U.3 (A) dated: 30/05/2008 of Govt. of India. The Academy is established to achieve academic excellence and to give more thrust to the research activities. The Academy is accredited with ‘A’ Grade in the 1st Cycle by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and has been placed in Category ‘B’ by the Government of India (MHRD).

The Medical College hospital has established NABL accredited RT-PCR Molecular Laboratory. The campus is very rich and vibrant in terms of having impressive infrastructure, renowned and extensively experienced teaching faculty, state-of-the-art teaching hospitals and medical research centre, with 1000 beds hospital. The Wi-fi and digital library, e-learning and other facilities are at equivalence with best campuses of the country. The campus is ragging free. The students in the campus are from different countries and different cultures and all the efforts are taken for smooth induction of the student into the campus and for the purpose student orientation programs, language classes for enabling the students to interact with local patients are regularly conducted. Facilities like Bank, Post-Office, Pharmacy, Gym and Indoor stadium, Internet access, Café, Department Store, Travel booking facilities, etc are provided in the campus itself. Calendar of events delineating the date of examination schedule, and other important curricular events are provided to every student at the beginning of academic session, thus enabling the students to plan and pace their studies well in advance. Remedial measures in the form of feedback from the students, bridge courses for slow learners are regular feature of the constituent colleges of SSAHE.
