A CME on world TB day 2023 was organized by Department of community Medicine, Sri Siddhartha Medical College Tumkur, NTEP cell, Sri Siddhartha Medical College in association with District Tuberculosis Centre Tumkur, on 19th May 2023 Friday at Nagarjuna hall from 10:00 A.M. TO 1:00 P.M. The theme for the year 2023 was “ WE CAN END TB”
The dignitaries to Grace the occasion were Dr Linge gowda K.B. Vice-Chnacellor SAHE, Dr M.Z. Kurain , Registar SSAHE, Dr. Prabhakara GN , Principal SSMC Tumkur, DR. Manjunath GN Vice Principal SSMC and Dr. NS Venkatesh, Medical Superintendent SSMC Tumkur, DR.Gurushankar Controller of Examination, SSAHE, Dr Krishna Iyengar Department of community medicine, Dr Sharath Shah, Department of General Medicine.
The CME started with welcome address by Dr.Jagadish B.S. Nodal officer, NTEP Cell, SSMC. The Dignitaries inaugurated CME by Watering the Plant. Dr Lingegowda, Vice Chancellor, SSAHE addressed the gathering and highlighted the importance of investment in the TB Elimination program. Dr. Prabhakara GN, Principal SSMC Tumkur spoke on TB Day Importance and also told this kind of Health Education Programme should be conducted in Schools and Colleges and congratulated DTO Tumkur for doing excellent work in TB control and getting Silver medal for Tumkur district.
Followed by Prize Distribution for Winners in TB QUIZ and TB Poster Competition .

REPORT ON CME/GUEST LECTURE- 06/05/2023
TOPIC- DRUG ADDICTION- AN UPDATEA guest lecture was organised by the department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology as a part of Continued Medical Education for Staff and students on 6 th May 2023. Topic selected was Drug Addiction- an Update.
Drug addiction is a serious social and medical problem faced by the people around the world. It can have devastating consequences for the individual, families and society. It is also one of most intriguing menace in educational institutions around the world. Now the time is crucial to address the problem of drug abuse for a safe and bright future generation. For this we need to understand cause, methods and newer drugs which are abused.
In this aspect we had organised a guest lecture from Dr Venkata Raghava, Professor and Head, Department of Forensic Medicine, Bangalore Medical College, Bengaluru. Permission and financial assistance for arranging the CME was obtained by Head of the Department from the Principal. Guest speaker was invited and briefed about the topic. The programme was held at Nagarjuna hall on May 6 th 2023 at 10 am. Programme started with registration of the staff and students. Guests of honour were invited on the dais. Green Inauguration of the event was done with watering the plants. Invocation song was sung by final year students. Audience were welcomed by Head of the department, Dr Chandru. Registrar and Principal spoke few words about drug addiction. Guest speaker was introduced to the audience by Dr Puttaswamy, Professor. Vote of thanks was rendered by Dr Tyagaraju, assistant professor. It was followed by Guest lecture which was absorbed by the audience with great interest. Hall was filled to the brim and some people were seen standing and listening to the lecture.
Audience included faculties, Interns, post graduate students, undergraduate students and nursing students. Event ended with clear message of not to indulge or encourage drug addiction. Certificate and memento was given to the speaker by the head of the department. High tea was arranged for the speaker and audience. The event was highly successful.
